Monthly Budget Spreadsheet

Please read this page to complete your Monthly Budget Spreadsheet quickly & easily.

Introduction

Welcome! Your budget has a built-in guide that you can use instead of these instructions. In the top-right corner of every page you’ll find an INFO (i) cell:

  1. Hover the mouse over the INFO (i) to read a guide to the page.
  2. Fill in only the cells that are HIGHLIGHTED for you.
  3. For useful tips Read Notes to cells that have a black corner.

NOTE: We recommend using your budget at 75% zoom (see the dropdown at the top).

How To Complete Your Budget (Tab by Tab):

BUDGET SETTINGS

  1. Choose your currency & year (left-hand side).
  2. In the tables ‘INCOME & EXPENSES CATEGORIES’ enter types of your Income, Expenses, Bills, Savings, Subscriptions & Debt into the HIGHLIGHTED cells (for ideas check out the Notes in the first cell of every column).

Go to Monthly Budget >>

MONTHLY BUDGET

  1. Choose a month in the dropdown.
  2. You will find types of Income & Expenses pre-filled for you from the Settings tab.
  3. Enter Planned amounts of Income & Spending for this month (highlighted).
  4. Enter Due Dates for bills and debt, if any (highlighted). Double-click the cell to choose from the calendar OR enter it manually in any format.

TRANSACTIONS

  1. Enter every transaction as it comes. Fields to complete are: Date, Amount & Income/Spending (highlighted). The rest is autofilled for you.
  2. To enter Date you can double-click the cell to choose from the calendar OR enter it manually in any format.
  3. To enter the type of Income/Spending, click the arrow and choose from the dropdown. You can also start typing for options to pop up.

BILL & DEBT CALENDAR (optional, for your convenience)

  1. Choose a month (top-left) & a week start day (top-right). Enter pay days, if needed (top-right).
  2. Change your Time Zone by clicking ‘File’ >> ‘Settings’. The Today’s Date is auto-filled.
  3. In the table ‘PAYMENTS & DUE DATES’ choose bill / subscription / debt types from the dropdown. The rest will be autofilled and placed into the Calendar! (The dates and amounts will be autofilled from the Monthly Budget tab that you completed previously.)
  4. When the amount is paid, use the checkbox to mark it as Paid.

THAT’S IT!

Using The Budget For Next Periods:

MONTHLY BUDGET:

  1. Either clear the Monthly Budget tab to use it again OR to save previous month data, duplicate this tab (right-click the tab below >> Duplicate) and rename the copy.
  2. Use the current (original) tab for the next month. It is important to use the current (original) tab for every next month as it is linked to the BILL CALENDAR.
  3. Clear all entries – Clear ONLY the highlighted cells with your entries. To bulk clear cells, select the first cell >> holding ‘Shift’, select the last cell in a column >> hit ‘Delete’.
  4. Change the month in the dropdown.

TRANSACTIONS

  1. Clear all entries (date, amount & income/spending only) to use it again. Clear ONLY the highlighted cells with your entries.
  2. To bulk clear cells, select the first cell >> holding ‘Shift’ + ‘Command’ >> click ‘Down Arrow’ >> hit ‘Delete’.

BILL & DEBT CALENDAR

  1. Clear this calendar (bill types only) to use it again. Clear ONLY the highlighted cells with your entries. To bulk clear cells, select the first cell >> holding ‘Shift’, select the last cell in a column >> hit ‘Delete’.
  2. To bulk uncheck the checkboxes, select the first checkbox >> holding ‘Shift’, select the last checkbox >> hit ‘Space’.
  3. Change the month in the dropdown.
